’Tis the Season for Giving
Dec 22, 2025December is the season of giving.
We spend more time with people.
We share love, appreciation, gifts, and kind words.
Lights, decorations, and music fill our neighborhoods and stores.
It’s beautiful.
But in the middle of all this giving, here’s the truth we often forget:
You cannot pour from an empty cup.
The Hidden Cost of Skipping Yourself
If you’re reading this, you’re likely the giver.
You host. You hold space. You make things special for everyone else.
And yet, before you give to others, you often skip the one person who actually fuels it all:
You.
You tell yourself there’s “no time” to slow down.
You’ll rest “after the rush.”
Your needs quietly fall to the bottom of the list.
That’s where the trouble starts.
When you’re not feeling whole or at peace, your capacity shrinks.
You can still show up—but it costs you:
- You feel more drained and reactive.
- You’re physically present but emotionally checked out.
- Resentment starts to creep in where love used to live.
Not because you’re ungrateful.
Because you’re undernourished.
Make This Holiday Different
This year, let’s do it differently:
Give to you first—so you have more to give to them.
That might look like:
- Saying no to one extra thing so you can breathe.
- Asking for help instead of carrying it all alone.
- Keeping a simple 5–10 minute ritual that recenters you.
- Taking a quiet moment just for you, without apologizing.
Self-love isn’t selfish.
It’s how you protect your energy, your heart, and your ability to love well.
When you are filled, your presence becomes the real gift in every room you walk into.
With love,
Rudi
